A Charrette is where citizens, designers and others collaborate on a vision for development. A charrette is designed to encourage the participation of all. The City of McAllen needs to give all the participants enough information to make good decisions during the planning process.
Go check out this presentation by Jeff Speck who, with Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, is the co-author of Suburban Nation: The Rise of Sprawl and the Decline of the American Dream, which the Wall Street Journal calls “the urbanist’s bible.”
